New Idea!

Not sure if this would work, but here goes: we form a new D&D campaign. We'd need a DM (I'd much rather play as a character for this idea). People decide on whether to play chromatic or metallic, and we all make wyrmling dragons of that type. We play as these dragons, without worrying about classes. When we would level up, we add one HD. If we reach the HD mentioned for the next size, we upgrade to that size. If someone dies, they return as a dragon of 3 HD less, with a minimum of 1 HD. Comment on this with suggestions, criticisms, and compliments for this oh-so-awesome idea.

What about lvl 1 characters? They suck too! That's what crappy creatures like orcs and human skeletons are for. Besides, we'd be tiny, so we'd gain amazing bonuses to our AC and attack rolls!

Dragons can wear armor, it just costs lots and lots of money, they need a special feat, and they apply a -2 penalty to every roll involving movement. Weapons would be unnecessary, though each one could attract a humanoid companion to be a rider, which the player could control. Similarly, the rider could be any class of the player's choice.

Ooh!!! Commoners!! Just kidding. I was reading the MM, and you can actually play as a dragon. They can become different classes, gain all of the bonuses of the class, except for weapon and armor proficiencies, seeing as how they don't use them. For instance, a dragon fighter would gain lots a combat-oriented feats. A dragon barbarian would rage and whatnot. A dragon monk would improve it's claw attack instead of unarmed damage. A dragon sorcerer would gain more spells. And so on, and so forth...

If you check your Monster Manual, they have level adjustments for the first three or four sizes of dragons. What this means is that you can play as a dragon, however the older ones might not work as well. What you'd do is, say if your a 1st level dragon with a level adjustment of +4, you'd need the experience to get to fifth level to level up.

Ah. My mistake. They're sorta confusing in the MM. That's the first problem I've found in the rules for D&D so far, regarding confusion.

quiggy and ben, i think we should start a d20 modern, i mean who wouldnt want to ride around in a cady with pistols and fight dragons (dragons and guns, oh man...)? well... yeah. i think we would be aweosme at it. then of course... i would love to play a vampire on a campagin.

Could I be a dragon bard? You don't need opposable thumbs.

Playing as monsters would be fun. d20 Modern just doesn't appeal to me. "Ok, you've just entered into a dark room. What are you going to do?" "I'd like to light a flashlight" "Your batteries are dead. What now?" "How about we just fire randomly, killing everything in the room?" Sorry, just doesn't work as well when you have nice modern conveniences.

The only real way I'd jump for modern is if I could get an electric luteā€¦ And one of those portable amps.

Ok, so we've decided d20 modern might not work so well. Whatever happened to my original idea? What do y'all think of that? Any suggestions? Anyone willing to DM?

D20 modern!

there are so many cool 21st century traps!

I'll DM for the dragons.

w007, so we have a DM. Granted d20 Modern traps would be pretty cool, but the rest of the game I think would be crap. Not to say that if we did try it, I wouldn't join in. By the way, what's your IM name?
