I drew a picture of the bard I'm probably going to be playing.

All right, but considering that it was '74, we'll all have to dress up in 70's geek chic.

heh heh heh, we have to dress 70ish, dose that mean we have to act 70ish too?

That is correct, Spork, we will. I'll start getting my poncho out of storage.

Hmmm

RoD, two weeks from tomorrow, possibly. THIS IS NOT A FINAL DECISION. Just wanted to give a heads-up.

Two weeks from tomorrow probably wouldn't be great for Ben and me. It's not definite, but probability is that we wouldn't be able to get there until maybe 1:30.

Notice the phrase "possibly" and "THIS IS NOT A FINAL DECISION". Also note the un-giving of times.

Note the "probably" and "not definite." Anyway, that was an "if...then" statement; I suppose I should have made it clearer.

At 1:35 PM, Blogger Doug said...

I thought that was next week, not in two weeks.

hey, we might be going to boston in a week too. anyways, you guys plan and we can prolly come.

This weekend

I don't know everybody's plans, but if everybody's able I'm willing to host a D&D session this weekend Actually... As Ben and I have a different schedule this Saturday, it won't work this week. Next week's good, though. Drop a comment; the default time would be next Saturday from 12-8, but let me know what does and doesn't work for you.

Also, I added a Bloglet box to the side so you can get all of the latest (well, delayed by a day) D&D news right in your email. Convenient!

For those with PCs.... (and other, non-related stuff)

Buy the October issue of PC Gamer. Entirely (or at least almost entirely) D&D games, seeing as how next month is the 30th anniversary.

The other, non-related stuff: I've been contemplating starting up the "Whispers of a Vampire's Blade" campaign when RoD ends. The problem is, it's Eberron. Who would be willing to play an Eberron campaign?

I'm willing, just so long as nobody gets upset when we stray far from the storyline.

Change of Address

I just wanted to mention quickly that my blog has moved from its old Blog*Spot address to its own domain and server, and it can now be accessed at somewhatpants.com. I've updated the link wherever I could, but if you link to my blog from your own site, you should update the link, as the old address is no longer updated.

And for those of you who are interested in doing something like that yourself, I got extremely affordable hosting from KylixHost and a cheap domain from FatCow.

Schedules

Just so I know, who all has off for Rosh Hashanah? (9/16). I'm thinking of RoD, the original campaign, or possibly the dragon campaign, if we decide to start one up. And Ben, are you celebrating Rosh Hashanah with your family this year?

New Idea!

Not sure if this would work, but here goes: we form a new D&D campaign. We'd need a DM (I'd much rather play as a character for this idea). People decide on whether to play chromatic or metallic, and we all make wyrmling dragons of that type. We play as these dragons, without worrying about classes. When we would level up, we add one HD. If we reach the HD mentioned for the next size, we upgrade to that size. If someone dies, they return as a dragon of 3 HD less, with a minimum of 1 HD. Comment on this with suggestions, criticisms, and compliments for this oh-so-awesome idea.

What about lvl 1 characters? They suck too! That's what crappy creatures like orcs and human skeletons are for. Besides, we'd be tiny, so we'd gain amazing bonuses to our AC and attack rolls!

At 6:08 PM, Blogger Igor said...

Dragons can wear armor, it just costs lots and lots of money, they need a special feat, and they apply a -2 penalty to every roll involving movement. Weapons would be unnecessary, though each one could attract a humanoid companion to be a rider, which the player could control. Similarly, the rider could be any class of the player's choice.

At 9:18 PM, Blogger Igor said...

Ooh!!! Commoners!! Just kidding. I was reading the MM, and you can actually play as a dragon. They can become different classes, gain all of the bonuses of the class, except for weapon and armor proficiencies, seeing as how they don't use them. For instance, a dragon fighter would gain lots a combat-oriented feats. A dragon barbarian would rage and whatnot. A dragon monk would improve it's claw attack instead of unarmed damage. A dragon sorcerer would gain more spells. And so on, and so forth...

At 10:32 AM, Blogger Igor said...

If you check your Monster Manual, they have level adjustments for the first three or four sizes of dragons. What this means is that you can play as a dragon, however the older ones might not work as well. What you'd do is, say if your a 1st level dragon with a level adjustment of +4, you'd need the experience to get to fifth level to level up.

At 11:29 AM, Blogger Igor said...

Ah. My mistake. They're sorta confusing in the MM. That's the first problem I've found in the rules for D&D so far, regarding confusion.

At 6:31 PM, Blogger Rach said...

quiggy and ben, i think we should start a d20 modern, i mean who wouldnt want to ride around in a cady with pistols and fight dragons (dragons and guns, oh man...)? well... yeah. i think we would be aweosme at it. then of course... i would love to play a vampire on a campagin.

At 6:43 PM, Blogger Doug said...

Could I be a dragon bard? You don't need opposable thumbs.

At 8:56 PM, Blogger Igor said...

Playing as monsters would be fun. d20 Modern just doesn't appeal to me. "Ok, you've just entered into a dark room. What are you going to do?" "I'd like to light a flashlight" "Your batteries are dead. What now?" "How about we just fire randomly, killing everything in the room?" Sorry, just doesn't work as well when you have nice modern conveniences.

At 2:09 PM, Blogger Doug said...

The only real way I'd jump for modern is if I could get an electric luteā€¦ And one of those portable amps.

At 2:46 PM, Blogger Igor said...

Ok, so we've decided d20 modern might not work so well. Whatever happened to my original idea? What do y'all think of that? Any suggestions? Anyone willing to DM?

At 8:39 PM, Blogger The Midnight Movie Guy said...

D20 modern!

there are so many cool 21st century traps!

I'll DM for the dragons.

At 8:32 PM, Blogger Igor said...

w007, so we have a DM. Granted d20 Modern traps would be pretty cool, but the rest of the game I think would be crap. Not to say that if we did try it, I wouldn't join in. By the way, what's your IM name?
